Texting with College Students

I got this text from one of my children today. I won't say which one, but it really doesn't matter. I can't stop laughing!

Cover Girls

The new poster for NAU soccer just came out! It's very cool if I do say so myself. Excited for Anna's senior year!
An update on the season so far.....Record 4-2. It was a tough loss last night to UNLV in the final minutes of double overtime. But they beat Grand Canyon and that is always good! Anna has started several games and is seeing a lot of playing time. Playing a new position but loving her last year and has been a great role model to the new freshman. Kayla Terhune is playing with Anna this year and that is fun for both of them. I'm trying to just enjoy her last year and get to as many games as I can. Go Jacks!

Lumberjack Senior Year

How is it even possible that this is her senior year! Last year of school....last year of soccer. A lot of changes are coming her way but she's ready! She's a rock star! Love her so much!

Sun Devil

Kayla is officially a Sun Devil, but so far....things haven't been too sunny! Last week was a pretty tough week. First, her car got broken into at her townhouse in Tempe and her wallet was stolen. Then she got a nail in her back tire. It took longer than expected to get it patched and when she finally got to school there were no parking spaces in her lot. So...she parked in the shopping center and when she came back....yep, you guessed it...her car was towed! One day and $135 later she got her car back. Kayla learned some lessons the hard (and expensive) way. Lesson #1- Don't leave your wallet in the car, ever! It was in the middle console, not in plain site, and she just forgot to grab it when she got out. Lesson #2- Never park in the shopping center because there are people sitting there waiting for college students to do that. They towed her car within 6 minutes! 20 other students had cars towed that day too. (On a side note....We pay a lot of money for a parking pass so it is a little frustrating that ASU oversells their parking spaces 10 to 1.) She is definitely getting an education at ASU. An education in adulting it seems.

Prom Life

In high school she used the excuse "I'm too busy with soccer" to get out of going to prom. But now that she's got a steady boyfriend who happens to be a younger man....she attended her first, and only prom last weekend. We spent the day at the Blue Daisy Spa getting her all spruced up. It was only the 2nd time she has ever worn makeup. (The first time was for her senior pictures and she cried the entire time). This time there were no tears! Cameron managed to talk Grandpa Ricky into letting him borrow his Mercedees convertible for the night. Here are a few of my favorite pics.

Life

I know it's been awhile, but all I can say is that life has been happening and time got away from me. I won't even begin to try and cover everything that has happened in the last year and a half but here are a few of the highlights. The Goebel Girls duked it out in the Big Sky Championship! EWU ended up winning in a nail biter that went into double overtime and then a shoot out. The game was held at EWU. Anna was the leading scorer in the whole tournament and made the All Tournament Team. Unfortunately Kayla was hurt and not able to play, but she did earn a championship ring! Kayla won a National Crocs Picture Contest and received light up Crocs and a Crocs holiday sweater! Stacy bought a house in Verrado! Anna won a Golden Eagle Award which is given to scholar-athletes in recognition of her academic excellence. Kayla decided to leave EWU and transfer to ASU and in the process decided that she had enough of playing soccer. Stacy went on much needed vacation! She took a cruise to Alaska with the old people! Anna turned 21! Kayla got a boyfriend and went to her first prom! Stacy had the opportunity to be the Project Manager for Read to the Final Four with her myON job. She also got really sick in the process and after a short hospital stay had to have 2 surgeries to remove some giant kidney stones! Anna got a house in Flagstaff with some awesome roommates and had been practicing the art of "adulting". Well there you have it. The last year of our lives in a nutshell. Hoping that I'll have the time to update this more often. It's fun looking back on the things we have done. A diary of our lives on the internet.
